Aluminum Bird Feeders are sustainable alternatives to feeders made from single use materials. Aluminum birdfeeders do not need to end up in a landfill. Aluminum has been called infinitely recyclable as it can be melted down and turned into a new aluminum product. Nearly 75% of aluminum produced is still in use today (aluminum.org). What better way to show love to the birds and to the planet at the same time?
Bird feeders are sometimes very flimsy, or difficult to clean. They are often made from plastic which will ultimately end up in a landfill or somewhere worse. Our birdfeeders are tough, weather resistant and don’t have to end up in a landfill when they’ve reached the end of their lives. Because they’re so strong, we can hang them, put them on a post or attach them to the side of a structure. Our birdfeeders are also easy to clean and refill.
Bird feeders can be great not only for helping to keep birds fed when there isn’t enough food around, but also they are an entertaining and fairly inexpensive way to connect with nature and feel less alone. We have absolutely named some of our favorite bird friends after they became regulars at our feeders.
Some tips to being the most responsible bird feeder that you can be: (U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service)
Put decals on your windows and try to keep from having a feeder 15 to 30 feet from a feeder.
Regularly clean your feeder. Every other week is ideal.
Sweep away discarded seeds underneath your feeder.
Rethink putting out a feeder if you have regular cat visitors.
If you see birds at your feeder that look sick, remove your feeder until they’re gone.
